How to prepare for a video shoot at your business
By Ebenezer Marquez, Owner & Producer · Updated October 2026
A simple checklist so your crew, your space and your story are ready when the cameras show up.
A week before
- Pick one goal. More calls, more bookings, hiring, a new service. One video, one job.
- Choose your people. Who's comfortable on camera? Owners and long-time crew usually come across best, because they care.
- List the locations. The shop, a job site, the truck, the front counter. Get permission from any customer whose home or face will be on camera.
- Gather your logo files and anything with your brand on it: shirts, hats, truck wraps.
The day before
- Wash the trucks. It shows.
- Clean the spaces we'll film, especially counters, floors and anything behind people.
- Pick outfits: solid colors and branded shirts. Skip small stripes and busy patterns, which flicker on camera.
- Tell the team when we'll arrive and roughly how long it takes.
On shoot day
- Don't memorize a script. We'll give you short lines and talk you through them. Natural beats perfect.
- Turn things off. Radios, compressors and loud fans make audio hard. We'll ask when we need quiet.
- Expect repeats. We'll film the same moment a few times from different angles. That's normal.
- Keep working. Some of the best footage is your crew doing what they always do.
After the shoot
We edit, send you cuts to review, and make changes. For ads, we then launch them and keep an eye on how they perform. Have a home service business? Read how video ads get plumbers and HVAC companies more calls.
